I. GENERAL CONTRACTOR/CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT MEMBERS
A General Contractor which has been engaged in the construction business for two (2) or more years and which, at the time of making application for membership, is engaged in the construction business in Southeastern Michigan, or who maintains an office in Southeastern Michigan, is eligible for Regular Membership.

II. SPECIALTY CONTRACTORS
A person, firm or corporation engaged in the construction business primarily as a Subcontractor in Southeastern Michigan, and who in the performance of such work, employs one or more of the building trades unions with which the Chapter maintains a collective bargaining agreement, is eligible for Affiliate Membership.

III. PROVISIONAL MEMBER
A General Contractor or Specialty Contractor in the construction business may apply to become a Provisional Member of the Greater Detroit Chapter. A company is classified as either a Regular Provisional Member or a Specialty Contractor Provisional Member.

A Provisional Member is not entitled to vote and may not hold any office in the Chapter. A Provisional Member does not tender its power of attorney appointing the Chapter as its bargaining agent for any building trades unions, and the fringe benefit contributions or wages as provided in the various labor contracts. A company qualifying for membership as a Regular or Specialty Contractor may at its option elect Provisional Member status for one year. For a company in business less than one year the term of provisional membership is two years. At the end of a Provisional Member's term of membership, such Provisional Member shall become either a Regular Member or a Specialty Contractor Member, as appropriate, subject to approval by the Board of Directors.

IV. NON-LOCAL SERVICE MEMBERS
Members in good standing of other AGC Chapters may apply for Non-Local Service Membership while performing work in Southeastern Michigan.

V. ASSOCIATION MEMBERS
An Association representing person, firms or corporations in the construction industry in Southeastern Michigan, which desires the services of the Chapter but wishes to maintain its autonomy, may make application for Association Membership.

VI. PROFESSIONAL SERVICE MEMBERS
A person, firm or corporation which does not otherwise qualify for membership in the Chapter, but having an interest in the construction industry, is eligible for Professional Service Membership. Specialty Contractors not employing any other of the building trades unions with which the Chapter maintains collective bargaining agreements qualify for Professional Service Membership.

VII. EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
The Educational Associate Membership category makes it clear that educational institutions may become members on a local and national level. Such institutions are not specialty contractors nor suppliers or service providers in the traditional sense.
