safety services.

Mission Statement
To promote
a safe and healthy work environment for AGC Members
and their employees. This will be achieved by:
- Developing and offering safety and
health training programs for AGC Members.
- Participating in the development
of safety and health standards for the construction
industry.
- Offering the opportunity to participate
in the National and Chapter Safety Awards programs.
- Maintaining a liaison on safety
and health matters with trade associations, owners,
government agencies and the building trades unions.
Services, Products & Benefits
The Safety and Health Committee provides
the following services to the Chapter’s Membership:
- Helps Chapter
Members develop their own Safety Policies (drafting
and evaluation).
- Provides
MIOSHA safety standards interpretation information.
- Produces
and distributes the Employee Safety Handbook,
Jobsite Safety Posters, Jobsite Safety Start-Up
Kit, MIOSHA Safety Standards Book and maintains
a well-stocked Safety Video Library for use by
Chapter Members.
- Monitors
and analyzes construction company injuries and
offers specialized safety training seminars on
the leading causes of accidents.
- Presents
Annual Michigan Construction Safety Day jointly
with Michigan Chapter AGC and Michigan Road Builders
Association.
- Provides
information to member companies on the Michigan
Workers’ Compensation Act and related matters.
- Provides
information and studies on the Experience Modification
Rating (EMR) system.
- Provides
hazardous material handling and material safety
data sheet information.

Erection Workshop Video -
With MIOSHA's permission, the AGC, Greater Detroit
Chapter videotaped the MIOSHA Part 26 Steel Erection
Workshop held at the AGC Office on June 17, 2002.
AGC, Greater Detroit Chapter Members who would
like to view the 2.5 hour seminar tape are invited

to schedule a time. The tape must be viewed during
business hours at the AGC, Greater Detroit Chapter
