Our member safety benefit program is designed to improve safety and reduce risk. AGC Safety Director Rick Mee is ready to help.

The AGC, Greater Detroit Chapter is now offering a comprehensive program of safety services designed to help its members strengthen their programs to improve safety, reduce risk and avoid costs.

Rick Mee provides AGC members with critically important safety services including training, site audits, writing of safety handbooks, and assistance with state and federal oversight agencies. AGC contractors place the safety of their workers as a top priority and Mr. Mee plays a valuable role in helping them maintain exemplary safety records. Prior to his AGC appointment, Mr. Mee served as Safety Manager in the Construction Safety & Health Division of Michigan’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA). He began his MIOSHA service 33 years ago. In addition, Mr. Mee served 17 years as a Field Officer, 2½ years as Assistant Division Chief, and was promoted to Construction Safety Division Chief in 1993. His previous employment includes a role in underground construction, Michigan Department of Transportation, and the sheet metal business. He has over 40 years in the construction industry.

Eight hours of safety services are provided as a member benefit to contractors with reported volume up to $29,999,999. Each additional $5 million in volume results in another hour of safety service to help you reduce injuries and avoid costs. Competitive pricing packages are also available for services beyond member benefit hours. Some of the services we offer members include:

  • Safety assessments of your facilities and field operations
  • Consultations concerning MIOSHA issues
  • Interventions with MIOSHA
  • Company specific training programs

Need to train your employees? Would expert safety advice on a specific project be valuable to you? Topics to consider include fall protection, scaffolding, ladders, rigging, confined spaces, excavation, right-to-know, accident investigation, on-site hazard elimination and many others.

Let AGC be your partner in customizing the right safety and health program for your company. Call Rick at 248.948.7000, or e-mail him at rmee@agcdetroit.com
